We collect as little as possible
The short version: ScanFact never requires an email address, phone number, or real name — an account is a username and a password. We store only what you create: your username, scan history, and preferences. Photos never leave your phone. Two things are optional and up to you: a recovery email, and the launch-notification list on our website.

We do not collect phone numbers, real names, location data, advertising IDs, or any cross-app tracking identifier, and we do not sell or share your data with advertisers. An email address is never required to use ScanFact; the two email fields above are ones you choose to give us, and either can be removed at any time. If you turn on notifications we store a push token, which is tied to your device installation — it is the only device-linked identifier we hold, and it exists solely to route notifications to you.
Guest users (no account) have their scans stored only on their own device.
Ingredient scanning
Photographs never leave your phone. The picture you take is read on the device itself, using Apple Vision (iOS) or Google ML Kit (Android), and is not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
What does leave your phone is the recognised text — the ingredient names the camera read. That text is sent to our API so it can be matched against our ingredient database and explained back to you. This is the one part of a scan that is processed on a server, and it is what makes the explanations possible.
Third-party services
- Supabase — our database and authentication provider. Data is currently stored in Supabase's Sydney region. Supabase is SOC 2 Type II certified. If we move regions we will say so here before it happens. See supabase.com/privacy.
- RevenueCat — manages in-app subscriptions. RevenueCat receives your Apple/Google account identifier and subscription status but not your username. See revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Expo — delivers push notifications. If you turn notifications on, your device token is shared with Expo to route them. See expo.dev/privacy.
- OpenAI — used to build the ingredient database, and as a last-resort fallback when an ingredient name cannot be matched any other way. Short text fragments of ingredient names — never photographs, and never your username, scan history or any account data — may be sent for that match. OpenAI does not use API inputs for model training. Ingredient source
ScanFact reports where an ingredient comes from — plant, animal, insect, mineral, fermentation, or unspecified. This is a statement about how the ingredient is manufactured. It is not a ruling on whether a food is permissible to eat, and ScanFact does not issue such rulings. Many additives, including most emulsifiers, can be made from either plant or animal material and are sold under the same E-number either way; where that is the case we say the source is unspecified rather than guess. Only the manufacturer can tell you which was used.
Data retention
Your account data is retained as long as your account is active. Your scan history is kept until you delete a scan or delete your account — we do not expire it, and this is the same on the free and paid tiers. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Account → Delete account. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your scans, saved products, devices, streaks and preferences are erased straight away, and cannot be recovered. Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription — cancel that in your App Store or Google Play settings.
The launch-notification list is separate from your account, because you can join it without having one. Those addresses are used for a single message on launch day and nothing else — no newsletter, no sharing with anyone. Email privacy@scanfact.app at any time and we will remove yours.
Your rights
You have the right to access, correct, export, or delete any personal data we hold about you. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address below. We will respond within 30 days.
Children
ScanFact is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Changes to this policy
We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.

لا نجمع أرقام الهواتف أو الأسماء الحقيقية أو بيانات الموقع أو معرّفات الإعلانات أو أي معرّف تتبّع بين التطبيقات، ولا نبيع بياناتك ولا نشاركها مع المعلنين. البريد الإلكتروني ليس مطلوباً أبداً لاستخدام سكان فاكت؛ وحقلا البريد أعلاه شيء تختار أنت منحنا إياه، ويمكن حذف أيٍّ منهما في أي وقت. وإن فعّلت الإشعارات فإننا نخزّن رمز إشعارات مرتبطاً بنسخة التطبيق على جهازك — وهو المعرّف الوحيد المرتبط بالجهاز لدينا، وغرضه الوحيد توجيه الإشعارات إليك.
يتم تخزين عمليات مسح المستخدمين الضيوف (بدون حساب) على أجهزتهم فقط.
مسح المكونات
الصور لا تغادر هاتفك. تُقرأ الصورة التي تلتقطها على الجهاز نفسه باستخدام Apple Vision (iOS) أو Google ML Kit (Android)، ولا تُرفَع إلينا ولا إلى أي جهة أخرى.
ما يغادر هاتفك هو النص المُتعرَّف عليه — أسماء المكونات التي قرأتها الكاميرا. يُرسَل هذا النص إلى واجهة برمجتنا لمطابقته مع قاعدة بيانات المكونات وشرحه لك. وهذا هو الجزء الوحيد من عملية المسح الذي يُعالَج على خادم، وهو ما يجعل الشرح ممكناً.
خدمات الطرف الثالث
- Supabase — موفّر قاعدة البيانات والمصادقة. تُخزَّن البيانات حالياً في منطقة سيدني لدى Supabase. وإن غيّرنا المنطقة فسنذكر ذلك هنا قبل حدوثه. راجع supabase.com/privacy.
- RevenueCat — يدير الاشتراكات داخل التطبيق. يتلقى RevenueCat معرّف حسابك على Apple/Google وحالة الاشتراك فقط، لا اسم المستخدم. راجع revenuecat.com/privacy.
- Expo — يُوصِّل الإشعارات. إن فعّلت الإشعارات، يُشارَك رمز جهازك مع Expo لتوجيهها. راجع expo.dev/privacy.
- OpenAI — يُستخدَم لبناء قاعدة بيانات المكونات، وكحل أخير حين يتعذّر مطابقة اسم مكوّن بأي طريقة أخرى. قد تُرسَل مقتطفات نصية قصيرة من أسماء المكونات لهذه المطابقة — لا صوراً أبداً، ولا اسم المستخدم أو سجل المسح أو أي بيانات حساب. لا تستخدم OpenAI مدخلات API لتدريب النماذج. ولأن هذا الالتزام يخص بيانات API تحديداً، فالرابط هنا لسياسة استخدام بيانات API لا لسياسة الخصوصية العامة: openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies.
مصدر المكوّنات
يوضّح سكان فاكت مصدر المكوّن — نباتي أو حيواني أو حشري أو معدني أو ناتج عن تخمير أو غير محدد. هذا بيان عن طريقة تصنيع المكوّن، وليس حكماً بحلّ الطعام أو حرمته، ولا يصدر سكان فاكت مثل هذه الأحكام. كثير من المضافات، ومنها معظم المستحلبات، يمكن أن تُصنع من مواد نباتية أو حيوانية وتُباع تحت رقم E نفسه في الحالتين؛ وفي هذه الحالة نذكر أن المصدر غير محدد بدلاً من التخمين. الشركة المصنّعة وحدها تستطيع إخبارك بالمصدر المستخدم.
الاحتفاظ بالبيانات
يُحتفَظ ببيانات حسابك ما دام الحساب نشطاً. ويُحتفَظ بسجل عمليات المسح حتى تحذف عملية مسح أو تحذف حسابك — فنحن لا نُنهي صلاحيته، والأمر سواء في النسخة المجانية والمدفوعة. يمكنك حذف حسابك في أي وقت من الملف الشخصي ← الحساب ← حذف الحساب. الحذف فوري ونهائي: تُمحى عمليات المسح والمنتجات المحفوظة والأجهزة والسلاسل والتفضيلات في الحال، ولا يمكن استرجاعها. حذف الحساب لا يُلغي اشتراكاً مدفوعاً — ألغِه من إعدادات App Store أو Google Play.
قائمة الإشعار بالإطلاق منفصلة عن حسابك، لأنك تستطيع الانضمام إليها دون حساب. تُستخدَم هذه العناوين لرسالة واحدة يوم الإطلاق ولا شيء غير ذلك — لا نشرة بريدية ولا مشاركة مع أي جهة. راسلنا على privacy@scanfact.app في أي وقت وسنحذف عنوانك.

What ScanFact is not
- ScanFact is not a medical device and provides no medical advice.
- ScanFact does not diagnose allergies, intolerances, or health conditions.
- ScanFact does not rate products as healthy, unhealthy, safe, or dangerous.
- ScanFact does not guarantee the accuracy of OCR text extraction from labels.
- ScanFact does not replace professional medical, nutritional, or dietary advice.
If you have a food allergy, intolerance, or medical condition that requires strict dietary management, always read labels yourself and consult a healthcare professional. Do not rely solely on ScanFact.

Your account
You are responsible for keeping your password secure. ScanFact accounts use a username and password only — no email address is required. If you lose access to your account and did not add a recovery email, we may not be able to recover it for you.
You may not create accounts for the purpose of abuse, spam, or circumventing free scan limits.
Subscriptions
The Deep Dive premium subscription is processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. Subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the renewal date. Any free trial, and its length, is shown on the subscription screen before you purchase.To cancel, manage your subscription in your device's App Store or Play Store settings.
Refunds are subject to Apple's and Google's respective refund policies. We cannot issue refunds directly.
Acceptable use
You agree not to: reverse-engineer the app, scrape our ingredient database, attempt to bypass subscription limits, or use ScanFact to make health claims about food products in a commercial context.
Disclaimer of warranties
ScanFact is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. Ingredient identification may be incomplete or incorrect due to OCR limitations, unusual label formats, or missing ingredients in our database. We continuously improve accuracy but cannot guarantee perfect results.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScanFact and its operators are not liable for any damages arising from reliance on information provided by the app, including but not limited to health decisions, allergic reactions, or dietary choices.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

حسابك
أنت مسؤول عن الحفاظ على أمان كلمة المرور الخاصة بك. تستخدم حسابات سكان فاكت اسم مستخدم وكلمة مرور فقط — لا يُطلب عنوان بريد إلكتروني. إذا فقدت الوصول إلى حسابك ولم تُضف بريدًا إلكترونيًا للاسترداد، فقد لا نتمكن من استعادته لك.
الاشتراكات
يُعالَج اشتراك التحليل المعمّق المميز عبر App Store من Apple أو Google Play. تتجدد الاشتراكات تلقائيًا ما لم يتم الإلغاء قبل ٢٤ ساعة على الأقل من تاريخ التجديد. تظهر أي تجربة مجانية ومدتها في شاشة الاشتراك قبل الشراء. لإلغاء الاشتراك، أدِر اشتراكك من إعدادات App Store أو Play Store على جهازك.
تخضع المبالغ المستردة لسياسات الاسترداد الخاصة بـ Apple و Google. لا يمكننا إصدار مبالغ مستردة مباشرة.
القانون الحاكم
تخضع هذه الشروط لقوانين المملكة العربية السعودية. تُحسم النزاعات في المحاكم المختصة في المملكة العربية السعودية.
